B Harris, Ltd., in tlie city, causes £6OOO damage. Shortly after the brigade s arrival, a concrete parapet in the building collapsed, falling on three firemen. tp Honess (31 years) was killed instantly, and Albert McHenry and Herbert Gill were injured and sent to hospital. , , Holness is the first member of the Metropolitan Fire Brigade killed while fighting fire in Melbourne. • Two other firemen narrowly escaped the falling wall.
