The House of Commons sat until 6.23 this morning, and concluded the Committee stage of the Finance Bill, which was reported to the House. An amendment by Miss Wilkinson (Labour M.P.) to exclude artificial silk from the tax were rejected by 180 to 82. An amendment by Mr G. M. Gillett to reduce the duty on articles made wholly of silk or artificial silk from 33£ to 10 per cent, was rejected by 170 to 80.
