MR LESLIE’S CHARGES.
TIMARU HOSPITAL. NO GROUND FOR PUBLIC inquiry. Tho special committee set up to go into Mr A. Leslie’s charges reported to yesterday’s meeting of tae Board a-, follows —A special committee meeting, composed of all Board members, was called, pursuant to a resolution passed at the last Board meeting, to consider alleged cases of complaint regarding tho treatment of certain patients in the Timaru Hospital. Letters were received from two of the patients concerned. No reply was received from the third case mentioned. After hearin'T the Medical Superintendent’s report thereon, it was unanimously rct]lo people ooncemcd in the alleged charges of; Mr Leslie have been asked for anv complaint thev rear desire to make, to tho Board. Two replies are to hand. _ and in neither case Imv© the ex-patients anv desire to make, complaint. The letters aro explanatory and cordial, and have been submitted to Dr. Parr for his cons’dcration. The reports thereon by th© Medical Rupcvintendcnt leave, no room for anv thought of public inquiry, and the Board is satisfied that there is no ground and no desire for a public inonirv, which could serve no good end.”
