OBITUARY.

MR A. C. BENSON. Australian and N Z. Cablo Association (Received June 17, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, June 17. The death is announced of Mr A. C. Benson, master of Magdalene College. MRS G. PEARSON.

| There died yesterday, in Timaru, ■ an old and much respected resident, in the person of Mrs Agnes Pearson, the widow of the late Mr George Pearson. The late Mrs Pearson, who was in her 90 th year, came to New Zealand from Tullibody, in Scotland, in the sailing ship Sevilla, in ISO2. On her arrival she settled in Dunedin until 180 G, and it was there she w'as married to Mr George Pearson, who followed a seafaring life, being mate of the Geelong, a coastal vessel, trading between Dunedin, Timaru, and Lvttelton. After her marriage the late Mrs Pearson came to Timaru, and later assisted her husband in his business, he having retired from the sea. The deceased lady, who was a life-long member of the Presbyterian Church, was well known for many acts of Christian charity, and was loved by all who had the pleasure of her acquaintance. Throughout her life she enjoyed the best of health, and in 1913 attended the Jubilee in Dunedin to commemorate the arrival of the Seville in 1562. The late Mrs Pearson is survived by two sons (Messrs Andrew and James Pearson), and three daughters (Misses Agnes, Catherine and Eliza Pearson).
