IMarist seniors'suffered defeat at tho hands of Northern, who were badly beaten last week by Southern: - The game was keenly contested throughout, and Northern thoroughly deserved thenwin, which was mainly duo to the fine spoiling tactics of their forwards. Clarke, White, and R.apsey wero always prominent, the former especially so, and theso three constantly worried the Marist rear-guard. Tho work of the Northern backs, with tho exception of Campbell at full, was very tame, and lacked cohesion. Campbell, who played for High School last season, was very safe. The Marist pack, with the two Kenned vs, and Boland showing out at times, worked well, but they found the opposing seven a tough proposition. Northern lieeled from a scrum at the Greens 25, but their backs indulged in wild passing. Marist rushed towards their opponents 1 goal but were cleverly ped by Campbell. Clarke, intercepted a, pass from Keyes, but his subsequent pass was not cleanly taken, and Manst forced.
