The King. Yesterday was the fifteenth anniversary of the accession to the Throne of His Majesty King George V., who j succeeded his father (the late Kim* Edward VII.) on May 6, 1910. Flags were flown on Government buildings in honour of the occasion. The Duke of York. A cable message from London savs that at Wembley the Duke of York, visiting the Australian and New Zealand pavilions, was impressed with tbo diorama of Itotorua. Ho inspected in detail the model of Sydney Harbour. A cable message from Sydney s.ays : “The ‘Stud announces the engagement of Mr Justice Owen (New South Wales) to Miss Hilda Chapman, daughter of Sir Frederick Chapman, of New Zealand.” .. , At the office of Messrs John Edmond Ltd., yesterday a presentation "-as, made to Mr J. Ball, on the eve of his” approaching marriage. In making g : presentation, Mr G. 11. Andrews ex- j tended the best wishes of the staff, I and Mr Ball suitably acknowledged the gift. j The members of the Timaru Women j Citizens’ Association met at the “Goode fntente” tea shop on Wednesday afternoon to bid good-bye to Mrs Jellie, vice-president of the Association, who is leaving Timaru to reside in Auckland. ' The president (Mrs I). S. Kemshed) wished Mrs Jellie prosperity and hap- i pincss in her new home, and hoped she would take up public work in Auckland . as she had done in Timaru.
