"THE BROKEN WINGv In their concluding performance in the Theatre Royal last evening the J. 0. Williamson Company presented “The Broken Wing,” a comedy-drama' in four acts. Heading the cast is Mr Thurston Hall, in the role of Captain Innocencio Dos Santos, an officer of the Mexican Army. A small ranch in Mexico- is owned by one Luther Farley, a retired sea captain, who has adopted a Spanish girl, Inez Vallera (Miss Gladys Webster) as his daughter. The girl/in her prayers, asks for a young American as a husband. If her prayers sro not answered she will be forced into marriage with Captain Dos' Santos, a pilfering soldier and bandit. However, destiny takes a hand in the game, and Philip, Marvin (Mr Leslie Barrie) appears as the victim of an aeroplane accident. He recovers through the instrumentality of Inez Vallera, who nurses him back to health. On his recovery he finds : th,at he is idolised by the little Spanish girl, who believes that God has 1 indeed beem good in sending her an American _ lover. Marvin has lost his memory, but is known by the cunning Santos, who recognises him as the son of a wealthy Englishman, (and holds him for ransom. Santos journeys to the States. and returns with a girl, whom he introduces as Mrs Marvin. The aviator fails to recognise her,-but her story is so well supported that Farley and Innocenc o have no doubts as to her genuineness In reality she is an American secret service agent, and m order, to ransom Philip Marvin, offers'a rope of . pearls as security. - The pearls are imitation, Tnd .
