KIA ORA TRAGEDY.
IIOAD COMMITTED FOR TRIAL. By Telegraph—Press Association. r ‘ OAMARU, April 10. ■- At the inquest on the body of Hazel Hoad, the victim of; the Kia Ura tragedy, the Coroner returned the following verdict“ Deceased, Elsie Hazel Hoad, died.-, at her father's residence .on April 3rd..-. Death was due to shock, caused by injuries to the brain and skull, hastened by a bullet wound in the left side of the thorax. The injuries to the brain and skull .were inflicted by Reginald Hoad with' a tomahdwk.”At the conclusion of the inquest, Reginald Hoad w,as charged with the murder of his daughter.. Prisoner liad 'been seated in the prisoner ’S' dock during the hearing of .the evidence at the inquest, and appeared to- display no interest in the proceedings. In ’answer to .a question by the Bench asking if lie had anything to say, accused said he could not realise yet what had happened for tlireo days proceeding the tragedy. Accused was then committed for trial at the next sitting of the Supreme Court, tO be held at Timaru on May 5. He was removed from,- the prisoner’s dock in an apparently lialf-dazed condition. - .
