DEATH OF MR H. S. RUSSELL

Mr H. S. Russell (late secretary to the South Canterbury Hospital and Charitable Aid Board), was found dead in tlie bathroom of Ins house, shortly after eight o’clock on Saturday night. Tno bath was half-filled with water, and deceased’s throat had been cut with a razor.

Decoased had been • suffering from insomnia, and shortly before Tie was found dead, had been given a sleeping draught by a medical man. Tho police removed the body to the Hospital morquo. An inquest was opened at the Courthouse yesterday, before the District Coroner (Air E. D. Mosley, S.M.), when evidence of identification was given by J. B. Gilchrist, after which the inquest was adjourned till ten o’clock on AVednesdav.
