The recent heavy rains have caused considerable damage, particularly in the AVoodend —AA'aikuku district, which is now a big growing area, and ,as a result many fields have had To be - ploughed up again for resowing. If a speel of good weather is experienced the prospects should be good as potatoes do not require too much rain. Chaff is described as being dead so far as business is concerned. Because of an abundance of feed following the r,a ins, farmers who have been hanging on to their chaff during the dry spell are now endeavouring to quit it. but i:he position is that only very little is required —rjust enough to fulfil occasional orders.
