MART REPORTS.

THE RIALTO. H. Allcliurch and Co, report for the week ended Saturday last:—At our usual weekly Rialto sale on Friday we had a large entry of both poultry and pigs, 320 head of poultry being penned, while 46 pigs of various grades were yarded. Seventy-two new poultry pens are now in the course of construction, and will be ready for use at next_sal«. Poultry.—Hen?, heavy 5s 6d to 75.6 d, otliers 4s 3d to 5s 3d, cockerels 6s to 6s 9d, roosters 3s to ss, ducks to is 6d all at per pair. Chickens sd, 6d' and 7d each, hen and chicks 10s. Pigs.—AA’eancrs 15s, 15s 6d, 16s 6d, 17s, ISs 6d, 2Us, 20s 6d, 2ls 6tl, 21s, 265, 28s and 30s 6d each; slips 25s and 27s each.

Produce.—AYlieat 22s to 2-Js, potatoes’ 6s to 11s; bacon, rolls to l.ld per lb, hams Is to Is Id per lb; honey, jjulk 6d per lb, cabbage 9d to Is 6d per dozen, rhubarb 5s per dozen bundles, lettuce 6cl to Is per dozen, green peas to 3J-d per lb, gooseberries 3d per lb. Eggs.—Heavy supplies of South Canterbury Circle eggs are coming to hand and are meeting with a ready market. Prices at present remain unchanged. Is 2d to Is 3d per dozen. On Friday at our rooms we disposed of a fair quantity of household furniture and effects at satisfactory prices. On AYednesday, 12th inst.. we held a clearing sale on account of Air I). R. Harrison at our 'rooms, when a good clearance was effected at ' satisfactory prices. AA r c have to report steady business in the property department.

UNIVERSAL MART. ,

Messrs Oakey, Baker and Co. report for week ended Saturday, last as under:—

Produce—Fowl wheat 23s o<l per sack, spring flowei.v roots 3d to Is 3d each, cut flowers 6d' a bundle, tomato plants Is 9d per tin, cabbages 3d each, lettuce Is per dozen, cabbage anci cauliflower plants 3d a bundle, white potatoes 8s to 9s, reds 6s to 7s per sack.

Furniture and Sundries—AA r e again disposed of a large quantify of furniture privately at quite satisfactory prices.

Clearing sales.—On Tuesday lltJi' November, we held a clearing sale at 84 Grey Road, on account of the executors of;the late AJrs John Mcßeath. Although this was a short notice sale, there, was a large attendance, bidding was ‘keen, and we disposed of ail the lots at good prices., On Wednesday, 12th, we held a clearing sale at Rose Street, on account of Airs John Grant. There was a fair attendance, and again a complete clearance was made at a satisfactory prices. On Thursday, 13th inst, we submitted to auction on the site, the whole of tire timber and iron of the demolished Sailors’ Rest. There -was/ not a large attendance, but buyers were in evidence and all the timber and iron was disposed of. On ■Friday 14th. inst. we conducted our usual Alart sale, and sold spring flower plants, produce and sundries at prices above mentioned.

Property. Our property department has been kept very busy during the past week, and among other sales we disposer! of a block or laud’ in ie AVeka Street suitable tor building sites, inquiry continues, and we have several sales in, the process of negotiation. Generally speaking there is not the same demand for furnished houses, to .rent for the Christmas and New Year holidays as last .year, and we have a number of well furnished houses available to approved clients.

THE RIALTO, TEMUKA. A. H. Eenn submits tlie following report for week' ended, 15th Noveinber:— Poultry—Good entry, liens' 3s to 4s, heavy to 6s 6d, roosters; 3s, ducks -5s 4d, all at. per pair; hens and chicks 5s 6d to 12s 6d.Pigs.—Slack demand', weaners 1-ls 6d, slips to 20s 6d. . Table potatoes, 5s to 7s sack, fowl wheat 2nds 23s 6d, oats 2nds, 20s, lsts 255. Bacon rolls Is lb, hams Is, apples 18s 6d, cherries Is 8d to Is 9d lb; rhubarb lid to 6d bundle. Large quantities of cabbage, lettuce and gooseberries are arriving and meeting fair demand. WAIMATE AUCTION CO. The Waimate Auction Mart report holding their weekly sale on Saturday. There was another large yarding of pigs, which sold well at late rates. Sows (in pig) are inquired for. There was a medium entry of poultry, the demand exceeding the supply. Good cows (in profit) are ’nquired for. Following are the ruling prices.— Pigs—Weaners 24s to 355, medium 19s 6d to 235, stores 40s to 465, sows (m pig) £5 10s to £6 10s. Poultry—Old liens Is 6d to 2s, cockerels 2s to 2s 4d, ducks 5s Od'pfn’r. Cows—We sold one cow at £8 ss. Produce—Old potatoes 8s to 10s sack, new 3d per lb, green peas 3d to 4d lb, rliubarb 6d, onions 3d lb, white wheat 25s sack, seconds 22s 6d, hay os bale, good oat sheaf chaff 9s 6d bag, medium, os, wheat straw chaff 3s 6d bag, baled straw 2s 6d bale. We also sold large quantity useful blue gum timber 3 x 1, 4 x 1, suitable for gates and hurdles. WAIMATE RIALTO. The Rialto report having field their usual sale last Saturday, when a good sale resulted. Pigs.—We yarded over 40, and although prices were a shade Jess than the extra good values ruling the previous week, nevertheless the whole yarding was sold to very strong competition. Wc sold two stores £2 6s, 2 at £2 3s, 2 at 375, 1 at 345, 5 weaners at 30s, 4 at 28s 6d, 3 at 275, 8 at 265, 5 at 25s 6d, and down to 18s for small sorts. ( Cattle. —We yarded 3 and cleared the <* try. One cow £B, 1 do. £5, 1 heifer £3. Poultry.—A fair yarding and a good sale. We sold pullets at 2s Hkl to 3s 6d, roosters 2s 9d to 3s 9d, old hens Is Id to Is .10(1, ducks 2s Od to 3s. Produce. —We sold a very large quantity privately. 17sapks table potatoes 10s, 12 cases apples 18s, peas 4d per lb. cauliflowers Is to Is 6d, according to size, cabbage 6d to Bd, .1(1 bales hay at ss, 20 boles straw at 2s 3d, 2nd oats 22s 6d sack, fowl wheat 23s 6d to 24s 6d. Furniture. —Last Thursday wc held a very successful clearing sale of furniture on account of Mrs C. E. V. Middlediteh. There was a large, attendance and a verv good sale resulted. Bedsteads £9 ss, £4 ss, £3 10s, wardrobes £9 ss, £6, £3 10s, mattresses £3 7s 6d, £1 14s 6d, seagrass chairs £2 os, £1 13s, £1 7s, £1 ss. music seat £2, curb £2, book case £1 17s 6d. duchesses £6 ss, £5 15s, and £2 12s, pedestal £3 10s, hall -stand £4, leather suite £4 15s, and a lai-ge quantity of sundries at full market rates.
