SERIOUS OUTLOOK IN AUSTRALIA.
big upheaval threatened. By Cable —Press Association—Copyright. Australian and N.Z. s.able Association SYDNEY, November 21. It is expected, as a, result of the latest campaign by the watersiders, that oversea shipping may be completely dislocated. There is a grave probability that the transport workers group, comprising all members of the maritime Unions, may be drawn into the dispute. Should this happen, the engineers on the tugboats will be involved, and overseas vessels which are ‘‘black” may not be able to berth in Australian ports. It is expected that drastic action will be taken in regard to the bertning of the Maloja at Melbourne this morning. Efforts will be made to induce the employees on the tugboats to refuse to assist.
It is learned tlmt the • Norwegian motor ship, Taiwan, now proceeding from Sydney to Melbourne, will be declared “black”, on arrival at the latter port, because she was loaded by the Bureau.
It is stated that the action of the Federation is likely to lead to tho establishment of Bureaux in other States, and that the Commonwealth Government may intervene.
