Tempted bv the high prices offering for fat lambs, a good many South Canterbury farmers have sold tins season’s fat lambs, forward, at lOd to 10 Ad per pound. A good many thousand lambs have been sold at these prices. Many fat lamb growers, however, are refusing to make forward sales of their lambs, believing that they will later on get a l.ighei pi ice than is at present offering.

A very pleasant evening was spent on Saturday in the Fail-view School, an illustrated lecture being given by the Rev. A. S. Lawry, on his 50 weeks trip round the world. The lantern slides were successfully manipulated by Mr Chaplin. The chairman of the School Committee, Mr E. G. Butler, presided and suitably introduced tlie speaker. The .lecturer related his experiences and adventures while travelling through different countries end was listened to with interest by a large audience. During the evening a very appropriate musical programme was much appreciated the following performers contributing • Airs E. R. Kelland, overture; Miss Lawrv, songs; Mr J. AV. Holdgate, song; Mrs E. R. lvelland song. Airs E. R Kelland made an efficient accompaniste. At the conclusion of tlie lecture Mr Tom Butcher moved a very hearty vote of thanks to the Rev. All Lawry, and all those that so ably contributed. Supper was then handed round. The proceeds go in aid of the school picnic, which will be held on Boxing Day at Fenn’s Bush.
