FALLING OFF IN ENGLAND

The report of the London Board of Education on the medical inspection of school children emphasises a sui piising falling off in the physique of rural 'says country-bred children were formerly far superior m health an.. physique to town-bred • ones, but now instead of chubby faces, pink cheek , bright eyes, and the sturdy figure in country schools, apart from farmers children, arc full of pale-faced, anaemic, undersized, underfed eluldien. The change is attributed to the migration of the most fit to town, bad housing, lack of sufficient suitable food intirmarriago among the unfits lett behind, and over large families. The report suggests that as the tmio is not sufficiently advanced to apply eugenics to marriage, the only available relief would be a search for new blood by the encouragement to town dwellers to return to the country.
