HOUSING BOARD.
In New South Wales. OFFICIALS TO BE DISMISSED. By Cable—Press Association —Copyright. SYDNEY, July 1. The report of the Select Committee on the administration of the Housing Board, tabled in the Assembly’, recommends that the manager, architect and chief clerk should be severely censured and dismissed from the service. The Committee said the evidence before it, showed that the Housing Board did not take the necessary care in the administration of its affairs, but there was gross mismanagement, carelessness, incompetence and improper conduct on the part of the manager, architect and chief clerk. As a result of tlieir incompetence, a large sum of money was lost, and further losses must occur.
Among instances of mismanagement the report mentioned that the Board built houses on land over which they had no title. In the absence of proper contracts and specifications, contracts were entered into with prospective purchasers, . for amounts whiSli were not sufficient to pay the cost of the buildings. The report recommended that the Board’s business should be closed down immediately.-
