POLICY OF NEW CABINET. By Cable —Press Association—Copyright. / 1 PARIS, June 29. In the Chamber, for the first time, some Socialists voted Ruhr credits, to which they have been opposed on , principle. The Socialist leader, M. Blum, declared that all Socialists would abstain, but M. Herriot, by making it a. question of confidence constituted it a vote test of discipline of the whole Left Bloc. A number of Socialists abstained, but many voted for the credits. Practically the whole Opposition voted for them, and only the Communists voted against. They demanded the immediate evacuation of the Ruhr. M. Herriot replied that immediate evacuation was impossible in the interest of reparations, and also security. He pointed out that voting credits did not imply approval of the policy of occupation, but a status quo in the’Ruhr was necessary pending the issue of the forthcoming interAllied negotiations.
