WOOL. HOME MARKET DULL. By Cubic—Press Aosoektton —Copyright. Received 0.40 p.m., July 2. LONDON, Juno 30. The Bradford tops market is dull and inactive pending the opening ot the London sales. THE POTATO EMBARGO. NAURU SUPERPHOSPHATE. 13y Telegraph—Press Association. HAAVERA, July 1. The Winter Show was opened this afternoon by the Hon. W. Nosworthy, who made an important announcement regarding the embargo on New-Zealand potatoes. The Minister stated that official advice had been received from the Com momvealth Government that the total embargo against New Zealand potatoes had been lifted. It had been decided to permit importation under certain specified provisions as regards a certificate of methods of packing. While highly appreciating the lifting ol : tho embargo, it is felt that these provision-; are more drastic than are warranted by actual conditions, as regards disease in potatoes in the Dominion. A communication had been sent to the authorities in Melbourne pointing out this and asking that ihis particular point be given reconsideration. Referring to superphosphate, the Minister said none of the finished article was being imported, as it had been found that Nauru could be ground and treated here very successfully. The price was consequently down to the 1914 level. CHRISTCHURCH: PRODUCE RETORT. By Telegraph—Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, July 1. 'The potato market has jumped about quite remarkably this last fortnight. ’Jen days ago, Auckland merchants, instead of buying potatoes, were .selling them, or rather offering them, confirmation rarely' eventuating. Then last week the policy was reversed, and potatoes went up 7s fid per ton. Sales wero .made at a high figure last Friday, but ■yesterday easing set in, and the current price of £7 to £7 5s a week ago, has subsided to £0 12s fid. .This is the quotation f.0.b., s.i., ior July', and July-September delivery. There is verylittle business passing at the lowetf figure, and growers are refusing up to £o 12s fid on trucks. There are many reports of yields of from three to five tons, and it is apparent that the crop is lighter this year. Reds are yielding better than whites. .. The oat market is lifeless. At the moment thei-e is practically no demand for the actual oats. Chaff is unaltered. Substantial quantities, are going to the- AVest Coast. Ihe Dunedin market is slightly better, but the firming is not reflected here. Wheat is another halfpenny per bushel dearer from the first of the month. TEMUKA STOCK SALE.

Only a few pens of fat sheep were yarded at yesterday's sale, and prices were much the same as at last sale. In store sheep the entry was composed of inferior ewes, and prices realised were oh a par with late rates. Ihe varding of fat cattle consisted mostlj of coirs, for , which the demand was o-oodd In stores, practically the whole offering was inferior'. Cows and values were very low. A very small entry ot dairy -cows camo forward, but there were some good quality animals yardou and anything close to calving brought good prices. Rather more pigs were forward tlnin at last sale. AVeaneis and large stores sold at slightly h'ghei urices but small stores were a little eheaper than last sale.
