FATAL EXPLOSION.
INQUEST ON PORT AHURIRI VICTIMS. By Telegraph—Press Association. NAPIER, December 20. The inquest on Arthur Sturm and Archibald Sporle, fatally injured m an explosion at Port Ahuriri on November 1, was held to-day. While loading cylinders containing acetylene gas one exploded, fatally \ burning Sturm and Sporle and severely injuring a number of others. , , The inquiry opened this morning and concluded at 11 to-night. The evidence of experts went to show that cylinders containing acetylene gas were generally considered quite sate, and that in the ease ' of the one. which exploded there was a defect in the welding. A formed verdict was returned.
