SHEdSP-STEALING CASE; By Telf —TVoca Arwwlstinn. BLENHEIM, Nov. 21. At the Supreme Court, before Mr Justice Reid, Jessie Vance, a widow was found guilty of stealing a grey squirrel fur, value £lO. The jury recommended leniency, and the judge’ inflicted a fine of £2O and Paulimina Carolina Campbell, and her two daughters, Mary Ann (21) and Irenji Prances Mary (19) came up for 'sentence on two charges of sheep-stealing at 'Pelorus Sound. His Honour, in sentencing the mother to 18 months reformative treat-' ment, said he could not overlook the fact that the'mother was responsible for teaching the girls to thieve, and ths had been going on for years. Both girls were admitted to three vear3 probation, with a special condition that each should enter the service, of a gentleman who offered to mako'himself responsible for their good conduct.
