SILVERSTREAM.
SUCCESSFUL CONCERT. most successful concert, given by the pupil*, assisted by a few adults, was given in the Silverstream School. There was a large attendance. The first item was an exhibition of musical drill by the children. Following this was a* chorus, Britannia, in which Gwen Broadboad represented , the Queen, Cicely Skinner, Marjory Sangster (England), Findlay, Farquhar and C. Saunders (Scotland), Jack Skinner and R. Clarkson (Ireland). This was very effective and was londly applauded. Then canto a step dance by little Jean Skinner, and this was beautifully done. A Japanese love song bv Cicely Skinner, Gwen Broadhead. Freda 'Waters' and M. Sangster (all dressed as .Japanese) was nicely given. Then came the "Quack .Doctor” by several little tots with Alec Thompson as the doctor, caused a great deal of amusement. JVand drill by the senior girls was most effective and graceful. "The Fairies” came next when C. Skinner, P. Skinner, G. Broadhead, M. Sangster, Freda Waters and L. Clarkson all took part. "Our Farm” was given by Flossie Hoi well, Flora Annan, and Rita Waters. This was capably done by such young children. Cicely Skinner gave the solo "Little Mr Baggy Britches” excellently, Willie Clarkson taking the part of "Baggy Britches.” One of the best items was “Captain Baby Bunting” given as a chorus. Flora Annan dressed as a soldier was loudly recalled. A flower song was a very pretty item given by Cicely Skinner, G. Broadhead, M. Sangster. P. Skinner, D. Waters, Doroen MacDonald, J. Skinner and L. Clarkson, each girl having a hoop beautifully decorated with flowers and fruit of the season which each represented. Cicely Skinner gave a step dance and this talented girl well deserved the applause, which was given her. Another item was very nicely rendered by Freda Waters, Flossie Howell and May Annan. Several choruses were sung by tbe school children in capital style. Following this songs were given bv Mesdames Skinner and Sheath, M isses Brown and Kane all of whom were loudly encored. The accompaniments were very nicely played by Miss Arnold. Messrs Smith's Orchestra played several .selections, which wore greatly enjoyed. Mr D. Waters (eha’rmnn of the School, Committee) thanked the public for their attendance, and said special thanks were due to Mrs Bates for the trouble she had gone to in providing such an excellent programme. The sinners arid Miss Arnold wore also accorded a suite of thanks. ' A dance was afterwards held and this was largely attended-
