FOREIGN GOODS.
DUMPING INTO BRITAIN. SOME COMPARATIVE PRICES. By Cable—Press Association —Copyright. (Received 8.55 p.m., September 21.) LONDON, September 20. Sir W. Beach, Thomas writing in the “Daily Express” on the effects oi foreign Humping states that the pre- ■ sent cost of labour in Europe is one in Germany, two in Czecho-Slavakia, four in France, • six in Britain. French lace can be sold in London at 20 per cent, below the cost of Nottingham lace. German inner tubes for cycles are being sold at 2d each, two complete motor cycle tyres being sold at 18s. German scissors are being sold in Britain at the price per dozen, approximating the cost of a single pair of English scissors. Bad as the position now is, it is believed an era of yet cheaper dumping is pending. Britain’s only remedy is the inclusion of these industries under the Safeguarding of Industries Aot.
