INDIAN PRINCE ABDICATES. By Gable—Press Association —Copyright. DELHI, July 10. The Maharajah of Nablia lias abdicated. It is understood that if lie had not acted voluntarily, he would have been deposed. A Government report indicates that there has been deliberate perversion of highly placed officials in the State of Nahba, of the administration of justice for the purpose of damaging the State of Patiala, including systematised attacks by means of intentionally fabricated cases and the deliberate conviction of innocent persons.
The Maharajah of Nabha ignored official warnings on the subject, and the Government concluded that he was countenancing these illegal proceedings. The Government hesitated to accept abdication, but finally decided to take over the administration of Nabha forthwith.
The Maharajah abdicated in favour of his son, aged four, and he undertakes to reside outside the State, pay a substantial recompense to Patiala, and remain loyally' obedient to the British Crown and tho. Government of India. He will be permitted to retain his titles and receive an allowance from the State.
