BOWLING.

NORTH END CLUB. GREEN SITE PURCHASED. A meeting of the North End Bowling Club was held in tho IVaimataitai School last night, when there was a good attendance. Mr Lb Manning presided, and lie reported that tho committee had hold several meetings for tho purpose _ of inspecting sites. They had carefully examined the sile offered in the North End Park, but found that it would cost too much to level. . Finally tho committee had selected a site in Lukey Street, where they had bought a section of 3 roods 18 perches, from the trustees of the late Mr John Brown. The price was £275, and he believed that the club would be a bio to pay cash for it. - Mr G. J. Sealey had examined the section and pronounced it an excellent one in every respect. Messrs IV. Pan ton and Sons had been good enough to give them the levels of tho section. It was practically level, and would cost comparatively little to put in order for bowling purposes. Mr R. PI. Bissett, who bad got Messrs Panton and Son to take the levels of the section, explained that there would be practically no levelling to do. The chairman explained that it was proposed to finance the club by tho issue of debentures among the members. A debenture list was being printed. Promises to the amount of £l4O had already been given, and Mr IV. Morgan had promised that if all the money needed to pay for the section was not raised by the issue of debentures, he would lend the balance of the money at 5 per cent. This was a very good offer. (Hear, hear.) It was said that the district had not been canvassed for members yet, and that a start should be made to canvass without delay. The opinion was confidently expressed that there would be no difficulty in securing a large membership. It was decided that the annual subscription should be £3, reducible to £2 10s if paid by a certain date. Members were appointed to canvass the district for tho sale of the club’s debentures, which are to be of £2 10s each . . Rules were adopted similar to those of the Timaru and West End Bowling Clubs, with the exception of the subscription; and it was decided to apply for registration immediately. New members were enrolled, and the meeting, which was an enthusiastic one, closed with a vote of thanks to Mr R H. Bissett, for what he had done for the club, to the IVaimataitai School Committee, for tho use of tho meeting room, ancl with a similar compliment' to tho chairman, for presiding.
