INFLUENZA.
LITTLE WORSE IN DUNEDIN. PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM DUNEDIN, Tuesday. The position in regard to the influenza epidemic has not improved, in fact it may be said to be a little worse. The number of notifications for the twenty-four hours ended at noon today was: Otago, five; Southland, three; Wallace, two. One death occurred on Monday. The Government Departments are seriously hampered, though the municipal staffs have been more fortunate. The warehouses are not as badly, affected as the factories, in which the absence of men who are the connecting links is causing much disorganisation. All the city primary schools are keeping open, but some in the country have been closed. The re-opening of the Boys’ High School has been postponed for another day.
IN TIMARU. On account of the prevalence of colds and influenza the Tiinaru Boys’ High School was closed yesterday, and will remain closed for the rest of the week. About 100 pupils are absent from the Main School, but so far the South. Waimataitai, and West End Schools have not been seriously affected.
