TOWN FLOODED.
WAIKATO OVERFLOWS. PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM AUCKLAND, Tuesday. Floods have been experienced at Rangiriri, where the Waikato river has overflowed. Tho storo and post office, combined is practically surrounded and it is possible to get by boat from the building to the river. The road to the station is practically impassable for motors. The water is rising at Mercer, increasing about threo and a half inches on Monday, and that nighr many square miles were under water, the depth ranging from a few inches to several feet. No stock losses or serious damage has been so far reported, but- fuithei vain may malic conditions serious. A barge, containing ninety sacks of coal was washed away from its moorings at Firth’s pumice mill. Ohinowai, and has not been seen since.
