TROUBLE IN PERSIA. MARTIAL LAW PROCLAIMED. by cable— .press assn—copyright TEHERAN, July 8. Martial law has been proclaimed in Ispahan owing to the refusal of tho opium merchants to conform to tho Persian Government’s regulations ordering all dealings in tho drug to be conducted under the supervision of excise officials. As a protest against the regulations merchants, kept the bazaars closed for a fortnight.
Business is at a standstill. A number of leading protestors were arrested.
