STRIKE TROUBLES IN CANADA. ARREST OF UNION OFFICIALS. BY CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT Received 5.5 p.m., July 9. OTTAWA July 8. Strike troubles in Nova Scotia continue. Orders have been issued for the arrest of the president and secretary of the United Mine Workers’ Association, who struck in sympathy with the £teel workers, as a protest against the occupation to Cape Breton, by the Federal provincial troops. Additional troops are being sent to the disturbed areas.
A telegram, from Sydney (Nova Scotia), says that Dan Livingstone (president), and James Maclachlin (secretary), of the local branch of the United Mine Workers of America,, have been arrested, following their circulation of a letter urging a general coal minera’ strike, as a protest against police and military measures in* the steel strike.
