SALVATION army concert. Eof some time past, the children and young people of the. Salvation Army, Geraldine, under their leader, Captain Bartlett, have, been preparing for a big demonstration, so that it was very gratifying to the promoters when on . tuesday evening the night of the convert, the Oddiejlows’ mail (specially engaged for tire function), was fully packed with an enthusiastic audience, who had ail come with the evident object of enjoying themselves. Nor were they disappointed, for from start to finish the various items were performed in a high class manner, reflecting the greatest credit on Captain Bartlett and Mrs Borrell, who had assisted in the training. Eaoh item was loudly and when all were so good, it is difficult to iudividualise any special item, but mention must be made of the various drills by the company, which were performed with precision and grace, and the singing of little Amy and Lily , TVatton was a treat in itself. The gathering which was controlled by Commandant Cook, who had come up from Temuka to be present, was opened with the singing of a hymn and prayer, after which the chairman briefly "explained that the object was to I raise money for the local corps. j Before; the “good night” song was sung by the girls, Captain Bartlett in thanking the public for the support accorded, took the opportunity of announcing that he had received instructions from headquarters to farewell on Sunday, June 10. He regretted leaving Geraldine where he had been the last few months, but he was pleased that his new charge would be some- I where in this division. 11
