SHIPS AND MARKS. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSN.—COPYRIGHT (Received 10 p.m., May 29.) Washington, May 28.. The United States Shipping Board announces that the offers received for vessels of 18 foreign services which the Board conducts, have been extremely disappointing. Only four of 20 offers have given any hope of possible sales, and these pertain to the Oriental and South American routes. Buyers completely ignored tlie Atlantic services. It now seems certain that direct Government operation of board lines will come. By Cable -Press Association —Copyright. New York, May 28. German marks reached an extraordinary low’ record, selling at 1,000,000 for 16 dollars 25 cents.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
