REVOLUTIONARY PROPOSAL
NEW LABOUR MOVE PHILIP SNOWDEN AND THE STATE. HOUSE OF COMMONS. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSN.—COPYRIGHT (Received midnight, March 16.) London, March 15. In the Commons, Mr Snowden gave notice of motion for Tuesday calling attention to the failure of the capitalist system adequately to utilise and organise natural resources and productive power, or to provide a necessary standard of life for vast numbers of the population. He is to urge thatlegislative effort should be directed to gradual supersession of a system based on public ownership. Notice was given of several amendments upholding the existing commercial system and urging that legislation prevent it from being hampered by State Control. —A. and N.Z. Cable.

London, March 16. ■ National Liberals have given notice of amendment to Mr Snowden’s motion, declaring that the House, believing abolition of private interest in the means of production and distribution woulej impoverish the people and aggra*vate existing evils, is unalterably opposed to any legislature ‘ depriving the State of the benefit of the individual initiative, believing- that far-reaching social reforms would be accomplished without over-turning the present basis of society and is resolved to prosecute proposals which, by removing the evil effects of monopoly and waste will conduce to the well being of the people.— A. and N.Z.
