The first such case for 200 years was tried at the Court of Session (Edinburgh), when Captain Adamson sued his mother-in-law, Mrs Gillibrand, a wealthy woman of -Lutterworth Hall, Leicestershire, for £SOOO damages, for causing his wily to desert him. Adamson alleged that the mother-in-law ejected him from her house, where lie was living, with his wife, and used a dominating influence and threats to compel the wife to refuse to live with him. The case was dismissed.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
