PUBLIC LIBRARY Io\VX COJRBESrOXDENX-] GER ALDINE, Til ursday. Tlic Oddfollow.V Jlall, Geraldine, was packed on Wednesday evening, when Air S. Lawson gave a screening of pictures for the benefit of tiio Geraldine Public Library. Tiio programme was an excellent one, and was much appreciated. The first part of tlic programme was a series of pictures illustrating physical exercises and drill by Italian soldiers,' and next followed interesting scenes showing something of tlic. lire and customs of wild natives in British East Africa. The second portion of the programme was "The Three Live Ghosts,'’ an excellently worked cut picture illustrating the exciting and amusing adventures of three soldiers who escaped from prison life in Germany and returned to London. During the interval Mr E. Hardcastle, president of the Library, thanked Air Lawson for his generosity in assisting the Library'by'giving the proceeds of the evening’s entertainment towards its funds. .He also thanked the pianist and operator for giving their services gratuitously, and the Oddfellows’ Lodge for the free use of the hall. On Air Hardcastlo’» motion a vote of thanks was carried by hearty applause. As it was Air Lawson’s wish that the proceeds ol' the entertainment should go towards the purchase of new books lor the Library, Air Hardcastlo said that the wish would ho carried out, and that by next week it iwas hoped there would be' 50 now books on the shelves; .and as Air T. D. Burnett,'ALT., patron of the Library, had given a . .handsome donation, it was intended to add another 60 as soon ns they could he selected. On the third Thursday m April a fete would bo held in the Geraldine Domain in order to free the Committee of all financial .liabilities and to provide a further fund for the purchase of more new books. In 'conclusion, Air Hardcastlo reminded the audience oi the good service Air Lawson had done since his residence in Geraldine, m providing them with excellent entertainments, and asked that he should not be forgotten during . the competition that was new to take place. (Applause.) He also thanked the audience and all those who had helped to make the effort such a. marked success,
