The following statement regarding the finances of the Dominion for the current financial year was issued by the Premier to-day: REVENUE. £ Total revenue for 11 months ended February -28 22,440,189 Corresponding period previous year . . . ■ • . 20,226,801 Increase • • ■ ■ • 2,213,388 EXPENDITURE. Expenditure for 11 months ended February 2S .. .. .. 22,585,243 Expenditure for corresponding period previous year . . . . 25,042,314 Decrease 2,454,071 “Taking the two together,” Mr Massey says, “an improvement of £4,667,459 —the effect of savings and reductions in expenditure —is in<Hcated by these figures, but in order to stabilise the position, and keep tne national expenditure within the national income, so as to enable us to reduce taxation, a continuance strict supervision over the spend, g power is essentiaL”
