At the Forbury meeting yesterday the investments on the New Zealand Trotting Stakes were almost entirely confined to Young Blake and Audominion. A Press message from Melbourne states that Gazomp, winner of the Australian Steeplechase in 1921, was badly injured while schooling at Caulfield, and was destroyed. The Dunedin Cup, run at the Forbury meeting on Saturday, was an unsatisfactory affair. Trix Pointer and Tatsy Dillon collided at the start ! and took no part in the race, and at the end of a lap two other backmarkers met with disaster, Albert Cling breaking a hopple and bringing clown Vilo. Loganwood’s win in the chief event' at Forbury yesterday broke a long . run of outs for the ex-Southlander G. S. Smith, who now has a big string in work at New Brighton. Smith won three races at the last Timaru meeting, and had a good inpings for a time, but though he had been placed fairly often (twice with Loganwood since the season opened) yesterday marked his first win since August 1. Young Blake, who won the opening event at the Forbury meeting and followed it up by a victory in the New Zealand Trotting Stakes, is a full-brother to the Timaru-owned performer Pinevale. Young Blake is trained by N. L. Price, who has met with a lot of success in the education of spuare-gaited horses. The following handicaps have been declared for the Otahuhu Cup, of 1000 sovs; 2 miles.—Weaver, The Shiek, William the First limit; Kewpie 12 bhd, Alto Chimes 12, Mintson 12, Taraire 12, Blue Mountain King 36, First Carbine 36, All Bell 36, Gold Girl 36, Grand Voyage 48, Dean Dillon 48, Logan Chief 48, Moneymaker 60, Globe Derby GO, Clarrie Daly 60, Comedy Chief 72, Nita Bell 72, Man o’ War 132.
