MELBOURNE, Jan. 17. ‘ An explosion at the factory of the Australian Explosive Com. pany at Deer Park, near Melbourne, occurred in a hut, wheie four young women were filling cartridges, killing 1 lorence fc>nut (aged 27), Maggie Nelson (21), and May Jackson (21), and seriously injuring Olive Baxter. Nelson and Jackson were Jailed instantly, being shockingly mutilated. Smith succumbed ten minutes after the accident. The victims wore just about to stop work for tho day when the explosion occurred. The cause is unknown.
