FARMERS' UNION.
PLEASANT POINT BRANCH,
A meeting of the Committee of the Point branch of the Farmers’ Union was held on Monday. Present — Messrs J. Cleland (chairman), L. Laurenson, C. Ley, R. E. Mcllwriclc, R. G. Cleland, J. Murphy, C. Lyon, J. McLeod, J. E. Gardiner, and A. J. Cleland (secretary). The provincial secretary forwarded a list of remits that were passed at the last Conference for the approval of this branch, and after consideration all were unanimously supported. ‘ The Director of the Pleasant Point Technical classes asked the branch to nominate a member to act on the Board of Directors. —Mr L. Laurenson was reappointed. It was also unanimously decided to donate £2 2s towards the funds of the Association.
Consideration was given to the action of the freezing companies in their endeavour to have farmers’ fat stock killed, and the meeting unanimously approved of the companies’ action in this matter.
