BUDGET PRESENTED. By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association PARIS, October 5. The “Daily Express” Paris correspondent states that France's 1922 budget is an obstacle to M. Briand’j’ going to Washington, and may cause tlie Government’s fall. There is a deficit of £100,000,000. Tlie Financial Committee of the Chamber of Deputies claims that th? special allowances to the Government officials, which is costing the country £28,500,000 annually, should he stopped before new taxes are created or loans floated. Tho Government at first approved of this, but now say that the cost of living ha 3 not fallen sufficiently to just if j a stoppage of the allowance. If M. Briand goes to Washington ho will only remain a fortnight. M. Yiviani will then head the French delegation. THE TRAIN DISASTER. HEAVY DEATH ROLL. PARIS, Oct. 6. Tlie latest estimate shows that 25 were killed and 150 injured in the Batignolles railway accident.
