MODER ATE . B USINESS. There is nothing viu.oving in. milling wheat,' biit there is a good demand toi fowl wheat. Farmers are still sowing wheat,, and present indications point lo a very , largo wheat! acreage tins year • about twice as large as that or last year. The wheat sown up to tlie present lias gone in. under ideal conditions, and if the growing and ripening seasons aro favourable next season s yicidi should bo very heavy. Oats aro weak. Tliero is a Jack ol inquiry from tlie Old Country, and the local demand is limited. To-day s quotation is 2s 9d on trucks, at country stations, but offerings are light and there is very little business passing. Chaff is very dull, and is quoted nominally at £3 10s per ton at country stations. Barley is hanging fire. There is no demand, and growers aro not inclined to offer. ’The nominal value is 3s t> r ', on trucks, at country stations. Cow grass is rather easy at lid to Is per pound. Ryegrass is inquired for, Out very little is available, it is worm 3s 6d to 4s 1 per bushel, on trucks. Partridge peas are keenly sought after, but none are available. They are worth 7s at stations;. Blue peas are also inquired for, after a long period of stagnation, and are worth 6s per bushel. 'Luo potato market shows signs 61 a slight recovery, by reason of the fact that ibie drop occurred early in the season, and those growers who are lidding aro loth to accept current rates The demand is little in excess of the supply. A good deal of activity lias been shown during the week, but merchants who were disposed to quote at equal to £2 on trucks, have now withdrawn.
