A series of chamber concerts is being arranged in aid of St. Mary’s Guild. Tho first takes place in St- Mary's Schoolroom at 2.30 on Tuesday afternoon, August 23. A very delightful programme has been drawn up, and the performers will he well worth listening to. This Guild is noted for the excellence of its work, and lor the large sums of money it has nmsased, always in aid of church work and the furtherance of most worthy objects. On Tuesday afternoon Mr and Mrs Percy Hlworthy invited the ‘'Springboks ’ and many others to their beautiful home at Gordon’s' Valley, and a very happy time was spent by the visitors, who enjoyed the drive out and afternoon tea and the pleasant welcome of their host and hostess.

For the first time the Mary .Raymond District .Nurse Committee is mailing an appeal to the public for assistance. It has been decided to hold a Street Collection Day on August 20, when ail those interested may help by contributing cakes, flowers, sweets, produce, etc. This will be within the range of everyone, and as the committee is badly Jn need of funds it is hoped that a generous response will be forthcoming. The receiving depot iwill he at Messrs Priest and Holdgate’s for the receipt of public offerings the day before and the morning of the street appeal. Few people realise sufficiently the benefit of tins organisation and the amount- of health and comfort accruing from such work. The relief brought to many households by the arrival of someone able to take charge, to direct, and to bring comfort to the sick is of inestimable value, and deserves the greatest assistance from one and ail. On Wednesday evening the Tiniaru, High School Old Roys’ Association held its annual hall in the Caroline Day Pavilion. The hall has never looked prettier nor been more charmingly decorated, the hanging baskets of ilowers and greenery, the blue and white streamers, (the Association’s colours) the cabbage trees on the stage, and the effect produced by the changes of coloured lighting left: nothing to he desired. The music supplied by Mr Havelock Williams’s Jazz Paud was a feature of the evening. Supper was held in' a. big marquee, and tlie side wings of the ball were arranged as drawing rooms. Tble bride wore a gold chain and pendant and the’oridesnuud a gold bangle, the gifts of the brideorooin. Aliv H. Alead, cousin of the bridegroom, acted as best man. Iho ceremony was performed hv the Rev. Crawshaw. After the ceremony tne friends of both parties sat down to a dainty tea at Air Small’s tea rooms Geraldine.
