The Governor-General.
AT TLMARU TO-DAY. His Excellency the Governor-General, Viscount Jellicoc, and party, are expected to arrive at the Tinia.ru railway station about 1.40 p.m. to-day by tho first express from the south. His Excellency will be welcomed by the Mayor and townspeople, at tho station, and alter this formal reception, lie will be motored to tho Caledonian Grounds to witness the football match, and will be received by officials of the Rugby Union. After the match His Excellency will join at the grounds the second express going souths and go as far as Oamaru. He will return tomorrow to Timaru, and stays in this district a day or two as the guest of Alajor Bond, Claremont. In view of His Excellencys visit, and of the South African football match, a half holiday will he observed, in Timaru from 1 p.m.. and in Geraldine and Temuka from noon. VISIT TO GERALDINE. His Excellency Lord Jellicoe and party in their tour in the South Island are expected to arrive in Geraldine at 10.45 a.m. on Saturday next. There will be a presentation of an address to His Excellency on the Post Office steps by the members of the County and Borougli Councils, and short addresses will be given by the Mayor and chairman of the County Council, and Mr B. R. Macdonald chairman of the Soldiers War Alemorial Committee, will explain the reason for tho delay in the erection of the War Alentoarial.
After the vice-regal party lias been entertained at morning tea, which will be provided by the wives of members of the Borough Council, under , , the supervision of tho Alayoress (Airs E. Hardcastle) Airs Hislop (president of the Home and Empire League), and Airs J. AI. Tripp (vice-president). It is then proposed to give His Excellency a bird’s eye view of the district from Geraldine Downs, going up- by way of Cox and Darby Streets, and returning via the Golf Links, and Totara Street, after which His Excellency will be taken around tlie district via Woodbury and Morrison Road on to the Pleasant Valley Road, and crossing the main road to Temuka, where His Excellency will arrive at 12.45 p.m. In the event of unfavourable weather the formal proceedings will tak# place in the Drill Hall.
