The Advisory Uoard wrote that the local Society's proportion of the cost of the compilation of the Disabled Heturn was £lO 12s id. The meeting agreed to the payment of the amount asked. The Auckland Association forwarded details of the scheme tfioy had adopted of dealing with permanently t disabled soldiers, and asking that should implications be received here from soldiers from their district applicants be medically examined, if their condition was not provided for in the scheme. Mr Clutha Mackenzie wrote acknowledging the Society's approval of the claims of the Blinded Soldiers' After Caiv:> Fund. The secretary -of- the Advisory Hoard wrote that iho local Society's quota towards the. £IO,OOO proposed to bo raised for the treatment of blinded soldiers would be £354. The meeting unanimously passed this amount for payment. Tiie chairman stated that besides tho fund of £IO,OOO being set tip, local societies would still render assistance to blind soldiers. The fund would maintain the property and uuiJdings during the period they were used for the purposes of a home for the whole of the Canterbury Military District. It was proposed" that ail Patriotic Societies in the district yhould contribute on a pro rata basis, the basis of allocation being the funds in possession of tho respective societies on March 31 last. , . The secretary said he had asked what tiie quota lrom this society wouid be on that basis, but nad not yet received a reply. The chairman said the Committee was practically committed to the project, but she was not sure -.hat the basis of allocation was what was expected. All other contributions asked were on a population basis. It was decided to suggest to the Canterbury body that contributions be on a population basis. The secretary stated that be had received about £1520 from various Patriotic Societies in the district which had been wound up. The 'iimaru Ladies' Patriotic Society forwarded the balance of their fund's, amounting to £1253 3s od, and the Ealing Ladies' Patriotic: Guild sent £lO7, os od. each with the condition that the money be devoted to assisting disabled soldiers. The Faii-lie Ladies' Patriotic Society sent £159 Is 5d with the proviso that the money be expended in the relief of disabled soldiers and their dependents from the Fairlie district. "he. secretary was instructed to acknowledge the amounts sent, and to* state that the conditions on which the money was given would be complied with. - The financial statement showed the amount of subscri|}tioi:s promised £51,345 16s Gd, and paid £SO Cb's 1% 4d. donations promised £396 lid paid £363 14s lid, total outstanding £712 12s 2d. Investments amounted to £29,100 and loans to soldiers •«- ?54 3s 9d. - - - -v>i For the months of June and July, rtho Claims Committee reported having four occasions and -cfcalt with 77 applications as follows:—13 v.eeklv grants of front 5s to 40s were approved" and five were renewed; 54 grants v."Tying from 10s to £25, totalling £339 2s were approved;, five applications were declined. During the period ]7(i cheques, amounting to £SOS 10s 10d were issued. The Loans Committee considered eight, applications, of which three, of £IOO, £SO and £SO respectively were approved and five declined. This concluded the business.
