HOCKEY.
SOUTH CANTERBURY ASSOCIATION. ANNUAL MEETING. At the annual mes.ti.ng of the South Canterbury Hockey Association there were present —Messrs Bennett,. Oram. Edington, Leslie, Hawkey, Gow and the lion.-"secretary, E. Rawstorn. An apology for unavoidable absence iva* received from the president, Mr G. P. Wood. The annual report expressed regret at the lack of enthusiasm in ladies' hockey in Timaru, especially as there was such keenness shown in th e ' Albury and Fail-lie districts. Appreciation wns expressed at the interest returned soldiers were showing iri the game, and it wa hoped that the coming year would • see an even, greater keenness from those who had served £heir King and country abroad. The results of the competition and the tournament were given in detail, and it was stated that the prospects for the ensuing year were mucin brighter, and pointed to a very good season's play. The thanks of the Association were extended to Mr W. W- Smith for his services, as referee, and the present dearth o[ referees was remarked upon. Mr Wood, for allowing the use of his office and lighting gratuitously, and for his many sendees during the year, was also cordially thanked*. The financial position, although not as good as last year was nevertheless very satisfactory. The report was unanimously adopted. The election of officer-hearers resulted as follows: President, Mr G. P. Wood, vice-presidents, Messrs J. Feeler, P. Clark, and J. Anderson; secretary,. Mr E. Rawstorn; treasurer, Mr L. Hudson; auditor, Mr G. .Leslie; management committee, Messrs T>. Oram and H. Edington (Timaru), R Bennett and V. Heal (To Rangi), G. Leslie (C.F.C.A.), J. Fceley and H. Herlihy (Geraldine), P. Clarke (Cambridge): delegate to the New Zealand Hockf-y Association, Mr Hy. Hatch, Christchurch. Tli>e management committee decided to meet weekly, and Mr Wood kindly offered "the use of his office as in pastyears. The management committee 'wili meet to-night for the purpose of drawing up the fixtures for the ensuing season.
