Received 5.5 p.m., Juno Ist. LONDON, May 30. Tho Australian Press Association learns that 150 Australians, mostlv infantry. have enlisted to go to Russia. All aro men demobilised in tho pasi, iortnight. Australian Jle:ul<jiiarl;rrs discourages the enlistment of Australians having dependents in England, and refuses leave lo Australians having dependents in Australia. The recruit-; aro mostly men beuveen the ages of twenty and thirty-three, mainly mured by tho spirit of adventure. Several, after being recruited by British officers refused to attest on learning that thev will not ho permitted to wear tho Australian uniform nor placed in a definite Australian unit. No members of tho Australian Flying Corps have enlisted.
Brigadier Davies. of tho Eighth Brigade, commands a British battalion. Tho men aro mostly enlisting in twos and threes, seldom singly. Major Work, V.C., and Captain Moon, V.C., are seeking to enlist, but their comrades are endeavouring to dissuade them. The men receive half their, deferred pay if they enlist for a year, and the War Office pays for their return to Australia. Further enlistments aro unlikely.
