Tlw Sick Benefit Fund which has been approved of by the Timaru Hnrbom Board tar its employees, has for its Object the raising of a fund to provide the latter with a weekly -payment 111 time of sickness or inability' to follow their employment. Tho * fund is to be raised by regular contributions of (id per week from tin) employee-;, sueli contributions to be subsidised by the Board. Every member must poy contrioutions for twelve weeks beforo be is entitled to benefits, except members in the employ of tho Board at the initiation of the fund. Full benefits will not be puid for a shorter period than tlire© days,' or moro than twenty-six weeks in any one year; such years to run from tho day on which the member becomes entitled to receive sick pay. On the death of a financial member a levy of 2s per member shiiM ho struck, tho proceeds of which nhnll be handed tor bis widow or to such person as the committee may direct. On the death of a financial member's iyito a levy of Is shall be struck. the proceeds of which shall be handed to the said member. The abovo will bo subiert to the subsidy of tlx-. JLnromir Hoard. Any member found guilty of fraud or embezzlement or wilful imposition on funds of tho society, shall l>" immediately expelled, and shnl', forfeit fill claims on the society. Should any ten or more members feel aggrieved at any action of tho committee they may call upon th<3 president to convene a meeting of the society for the ] urpos:of considering such action of the committeo, and such meeting shall straightway decide; whether the action of the committee shall be upheld or annulled.
Tho Harbour Board modelled their Sick Benefit Fund on the Fund adopted *oy the Tinii'ru Borough Council for their employees.
