ARMY LEAVE.

PERMANENT FORCE OFFICERS AND MEN. The following W been issued in general orders relative to the annual leave of officers*, non-commissioned ofand men of the New Zealand Permanent Force: — The annual leave for which members of the Permanent Forces are normally eligible, but which is withheld by reason of war conditions, shall be allowed to accrue up to a maximum of three months, and shall be granted subsequently as circumstances and the requirements of the service permit. The estates of members of the Permanent Forces who become deceased during the war period shall be credited with, the monetary value of any annual leave so accumulated during the war period.

The leave-year commences on December Ist and ends on Noveriber 30fch. subject to a maximum limitation of three months. Members of the Permanent .Forces who received no annual leave during thte leave-year—December Ist, ,1913. to November 30th, 1914 — or in any subsequent leave period during the war, will be credited with the accrued leave for which thev would have been eligible on account of «uch periods under normal conditions. In event 0 i death, the amount payable to the deceased soldier's estate will be arrived at by valuing the period of leave standing to his credit on account of each leave-year up to November 30th next following the date of casualty separately at the rate of pay issuable to him for each such year in his substantive rank in the Permanent Forces.

Expeditionary Force rank or rates of pay will not be recognised in connection with claims for the monetary equivalent for accrued leave. Annual leave accrued under this order and remainino; to the credit of members of the Permanent Force will not be recognised when, on retirement, such member receives special leave on the authority of the Minister for Defence under the Public Service Reputations. excepting to such extent "as would not exceed a total, receivable from both sources, of three months.
