LOCAL BODIES AS TRADERS. The House of Commons, by 150 to 25 rejected a private measure enabling local authorities to undertake public sen-ices and trading without parliamentary sanction. The Government opposed the measure on the ground that the Bill was too drastic. A BUDGET AMENDMENT. Free Liberals and Labourites have adopted the principle of a levy on capital in their notice of motion for the rejection of the Budget. FOOD CONTROL. : Owing to the soaring of prices of bacon, cheese and margerine, the Food Controller is resuming control of those commodities;.
