PLEASANT POINT.

THE TOWN BOARD. The monthly meeting of the Pleasant Point Town Board was held on Tuesday evening. Present—Messrs J. Maze (chairman), W. Oborn, W. J. Barker, M. F. Maze, A. Chisholm, and G Saunders. The Valuation Department notified that the valuations were the same as last year. It was agreed to require the owner of a hauling plant to repair the damage done to the. kerbing and asphalt in front of the railway station.

The clerk -was instructed to write to the road ranger that complaints were received about stock wandering on roads, arid advising him to take action against offenders. The Works Committee reported that some, shingle was Wanted at Nelson Creek, that the .drain leading from Mellon's property requiring .clearing, arid that the road on the Manse Hill and Mackenzie Road from the goods shed to the Park wanted raking in and breaking. It was agreed to have the work done.

Mr W. Mackie was granted a billiard room license, the hours to be from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The chairman reported that the bank balance stood at £lO7 2s. It was agreed that a, general rate of Id in the £ should be struck on all rateable property for the ensuing year. Accounts amounting to £136 12s were passed for payment. SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

The monthly meeting of the District High School Committee was held on Monday evening. Present—Messrs Laurenson (chairman), ji;. M. Halsteaa (secretary), W. B. Ouorn, and H. A Brown. Mr "Wickes, the headmaster and treasurer.

'l'he headmaster reported that the, attendance for the month had been very satisfactory and averaged as follows: Primary 148, roil' number 160 secondary 29, roll 31. The request from the Town Board to clean the creek and cut willows had heen attended to in a satisfactory manner but the sub-committee appointed to have the work done had gone further and had the creek cleaned right through the school grounds, and it is now free from all weeds, cress etc. The ornamental plot in front 'of the school had also received considerable attenton, and was now in excellent order. He was sorry to inform the committee that Miss Anderson, secondary assistant, had been absent on, sick leave since May 20, but Miss Hamilton had reported for duty as relieving teacher. The report was adopted, ■ members making complimentary reference to the way the work hod been done. Accounts for £l4 10s were passed for payment. - • ;, ".,'■''
