DISCHARGED SOLDIERS. . CREATE DISTURBANCES. , Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn. Received 9.25 p m., Mav 27tli. LONDON, "May 26. Several thousand discharged soldiers went in procession to Westminster. Foot and mounted police blocked the approaches to the Houses of Parliament. The demonstrators reached tlie Abbey and assailed the police with paving wood blocks and granite setts. The foot police charged and scattered the demonstrators, who later marched to Buckingham Palace. DOMINION MEAT. INEQUITABLY TREATED. Received 8 p.m. May 27th, LONDON, May 15.
In tho House of Commons Sir Newton Moore suggested that the Food Ministry was celling dominions meat costing tenpenee at thirteen pence per pound wholesale, in order to even up the -average to the price paid for American meat which had been badly bought. He asked 1 if the dominion Governments had protested. Mr Roberts replied that he had received inquiries from dominion Governments. The meat had to be sold at a flat rate and the cost of all meat purchased by the Ministry averaged. Most of the imported meat cam e fro-m America., where the average price was considerably higher than in the dominions.
