DAIRY PRODUCE AT HOME. Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn. 'LONDON, May 15. Butter is mi changed. The Ministry of Food does not intend to purchase Canadian cheese, but leaves it to private importers- The retail price of all imported cheese remains at eighteen pence. - I'ABM PRODUCE MARKET. (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, May 27. The long dry .spell has been broken by a oold sou'-west rain, with snow cn the ranges and Banks Peninsula.. The principal effect it- is likely to have on the. market will be the hardening of prices of oats and oatsheaf chaff. There are practically no oats offering by growers, although Algerians and. good Duns are in demand for seed, hut they are difficult to procure. Growers do not like to part with their oats in case they may want them for their own use,' and now that the weather has 'broken they will no doubt be still more reluctant to sell. The same remarks apply to oatsheaf cllaff. and although the nominal price is £5 15s to £6 country stations, tli,ere are very few sellers. Tho partial removal of the embargo on the shipment of potatoes to Australia has not affected the market to any extent owing to there being no shipping available; and it is not known what the ruling prices -will be in the Sydney market when the shippingstrike ends. Buyers have lately bean friving £6 ,f r> .£6 5s at country stations, but are indifferent about operating at' nreseut. .It is renorted that seme of Nor+h Island merchants are trvine:.to resell potatoes, and if so it may tend to °ase the market. The nominal quotation for onions is f'7 10's to nt nonntrv stations, but ther e is little business doing. ■ '
