STRANDED NEW ZEALANDERS. ASK FOR ALLOWANCES. Australian and N.Z. Cable Assh. SYDNEY, May 26. A meeting of stranded New Zea(landers indignantly condemned the attitude of the New Zealand Government and decided to cable asking the Ministry that a reasonable sustenance allowance should be paid to people forced to remain in Sydney through the action of the Government. A memorial to Sir James Allen was also despatched by a troopship. ~~ CABLE NEGOTIATIONS. Sir James Allen cabled to the stranded New Zealanders that provided the reports regarding the epidemic continued satisfactory he hoped to arrange to repatriate small batches in a fortnight's time The New Zealanders replied, regretting the vagueness of the promise, and suggested a full ship of passengers next week under strict, medical quarantine arrangements, three consecutive days' examination before embarking, three days quarantine aboard in Sydney, and four days voyage, If this was unacceptable explicit reasons are desired on both sides. TOO MUCH RAIN. Received 11.50 p.m., May ?6th. The deluge continues; 359 points fell in six hoiu's to-day. FATAL INFLUENZA. There were twenty deaths from influenza in the city and the country during the week-end.
